THREE RIVERS HIGH SCHOOL: 27
Gull Lake traveled down to Three Rivers to re-ignite an old Wolverine rivalry. Each team scored on their opening drives to begin the game. Three Rivers took the opening kickoff and put together a 3-minute drive for the first score of the evening. Gull Lake responded by putting together a 3-minute drive of their own, capped off by Ben Jackson’s 11-yard TD score. Anthony Baptiste’s PAT was good. 7-7 after the 1st quarter.
Both teams continued to add points to the scoreboard. Three Rivers scored from 11 yards out and Gull Lake took the kickoff down the field to tie the score at 14 with 1-yard Romyak rushing TD. Both teams scored again in the 2nd quarter. Gull Lake’s score was a 41-yard scoring pass from Silas VanWormer to Carter Birdsall. Romyak scored a 2-point PAT. Gull Lake took a 22-21 lead into the half.
Gull Lake scored first in the 3rd quarter on a VanWomer 1-yard score. Baptiste’s PAT was good. VanWormer intercepted the Wildcat pass on their next possession, but Gull Lake could not capitalize from the turnover. Both defenses tightened the screws and had the crowd on the edges of their seats during the 4th quarter. Gull Lake had the chance to put the game away, but the 21-yard FG never had a chance to happen due to a botched snap. Three Rivers took their possession and scored with 1:10 left in the game. Their 2-pt PAT play fell incomplete. The Three Rivers onside kick attempt was no good. Gull Lake turned the ball over on downs with :03 to go in the game. Three Rivers' last pass attempt was incomplete. Final score GL 29 TR 27
