PORTAGE NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL: 41
Friday night, your Blue Devils saw too much brown and orange in their Friday night SMAC football game against Portage Northern. Northern scored their first two TDs in the 1st quarter with runs of 40 and 45 yards. Gull Lake cut the lead to 14-3 in the 2nd quarter with a 25-yard FG by Zach Reed.
Portage Northern hit their stride after that by racking off the next 27 points in their part of the 2nd quarter. Northern took a 41-3 halftime lead. Both teams exchanged drives in the second half, but neither team scored to keep the score 41-3 at the end of the game. Nate Willard led Gull Lake’s rushing attack with 65 yards. Tyler Amos led the Huskies with 4 rushing TD’s.
