Portage Central and Gull Lake both showed an exciting first half of football. Once the pregame jitters settle down, Portage Central’s ground game held the edge over Gull Lake’s spread attack.
Portage Central struck first, but Gull Lake came back quickly to hold a brief 7-6 lead in the first quarter due a touchdown pass thrown by Dawson Clancy to Nolan Fraaza. In the second quarter, Portage Central scored their third touchdown of the night with :24 seconds to go in the half to take a 21-7 halftime lead.
Gull Lake started of the third quarter with a three and out and then the Mustang ground game controlled the clock, the ball, and time of possession. Final score: Portage Central over Gull Lake 42 - 7.
