Gull Lake picks up a sweep against cross division match-up, 2 to 1 and 11 to 2

Game 1 Gull Lake 2, Lakeshore 1

Gull Lake’s Jack Blesch came out on top of this pitchers duel going 7 strong innings allowing 1 run (0 ER) on 3 hits while striking out 4. His counterpart for Lakeshore Brandon Rath allowed 2 (1 ER) on 8 hits while striking out 1.

Gull Lake opened the scoring up in the bottom of the 1st when Kole Warren singled to drive in Jacob Louden who reached base due to an error.

Lakeshore would tie it up in the top of the 3rd. Riley Adams led the inning off with a hit by pitch, he would later score on an error when Shane Williams attempted a 2 out drag bunt.

Gull Lake would get back on top in the bottom of the 5th when Kole Warren came up big again with an RBI single that scored Jacob Louden, who doubled to deep right-center field. Warren would end up going 2-2 with 2 RBI’s. He also added a Hit By Pitch to reach base all 3 times.

1 run was all Blesch needed for Gull Lake to seal the win. In the top of the 7th he Lakeshore to go 3 up 3 down to finish the game. Brandon Rath was given the loss for Lakeshore.

Along with Warren, Jacob Louden had 2 hits for Gull Lake. Dawson Clancy, Carson Senske, Dylan Stanton, and Luke Scoles had hits in the win.

Lakeshore’s 3 hits, all singles, were from Koby Sherwood, Jake Trivedi, and Shane Williams.

 

Game 1 Gull Lake 11, Lakeshore 2

Game 2 started out like Game 1 with outstanding defense and pitching. It wasn’t until the bottom of the 4th inning when Gull Lake broke it wide open. They used 2 big innings to get the win.

Gull Lake scored 4 runs in the 4th to take a 4 to 0 lead. Dylan Stanton reached base due to an error, Kole Warren would single putting runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Both would move up when an attempt to pick off Stanton at 2nd flew into right-center field. With the infield drawn in Jack Blesch would hit a grounder that was miss-played by the 2nd basemen allowing Stanton and Warren to score. After Lakeshore picked up a big double play, Gull Lake’s Nick Fadden would earn a walk and would come around to score when Brandon Ruge laid down a bunt single that the pitcher sent over the head of the first baseman. Ruge would make it all the way to 3rd on the play. Hunter Hazel would double and score Ruge. At the end of 4 Gull Lake 4, Lakeshore 0.

Lakeshore would cut into the lead in the top of the 5th scoring 2 runs on 5 straight hits. After a quick ground out to the shortstop, Ryan Soper started it off, followed by Matt DeFay, Jake Trivedi, Grant Ruddell, and Cam Dalrymple.

After working out of the jam, Gull Lake added 7 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to put the game out of reach. Dylan Stanton started off the inning with a single, he would score on a Jack Blesch double. Dawson Clancy would then double driving in Blesch. After a Nick Fadden walk, Luke Scoles would double to score Courtesy Runner Carson Senske. Hunter Hazel would drive in 2 more on a single. Back to back RBI Doubles by Jacob Louden and Dylan Stanton would push the lead up to 11 to 2.

Gull Lake’s Luke Mastromatteo went 7 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8. Lakeshore’s Riley Adams was handed the loss.
