After several hours of work from the grounds crew to get the field playable, the two former Wolverine Conference rivals battled each other on Thursday.

Game 1 Otsego 9, Gull Lake 2

Otsego used some timely two-strike hitting and great pitching from lefty Derek Ward to win Game 1.

Otsego scored 9 runs on 8 hits while limiting Gull Lake to 2 runs on 3 hits.

Otsego’s Jaekob Sallee had a big day at the plate driving 5 RBI’s on a single, a double and SAC Fly. Addison Atwater added 3 hits as well in the win.

Gull Lake’s Hunter Hazel and Jacob Louden both doubled in the loss. Jack Blesch had Gull Lake’s other hit.

Derek Ward pick up the win for Otsego going 6 and ? allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3. Brandon Ruge was handed the loss.

Game 2 Otsego 4, Gull Lake 1

Otsego scored its 4 runs on 7 hits, 3 on a long ball by Jaekob Sallee in the Top of the 3rd. With a 2-0 count, he drove the next pitch deep over the left field fence giving Otsego a 3 to 0 lead.

Gull Lake would get one back in the Bottom of the 5th on a Dylan Stanton RBI Double.

Otsego would score one more in the Top of the 7th giving them a 4 to 1 lead.

Carter Morris picks up the win for Otsego on the mound while Luke Mastromatteo got the loss for Gull Lake.
