GRAND LEDGE HIGH SCHOOL: 3
It took 12 long innings in a slight downpour for Grand Ledge to beat Gull Lake to advance to the Regional Final against Portage Northern on Monday. Gull Lake was holding on to a 1 run lead with 2 outs, Grand Ledge’s Noah Warren and Braedon Stoakes drew walks. Gull Lake’s starter Luke Scoles who pitched 6 and ? innings allowing 0 runs on 4 hits, striking out 10, reached his pitch limit after Noah Warren, and Braedon Stoakes walked. Noah Warren would eventually score on a wild pitch. Tying the game at 1. Gull Lakes 1st run was scored back in the 4th when Justin Mansager singled, then Hunter Hazel reached on an error by the shortstop. Cade Stanton hit into a fielder's choice, and moved to 2nd on an error by the 2nd baseman, which allowed Justin Mansager to score. After tying it in the 7th, Grand Ledge would take the lead in the top of 8 after Aaron West singled and scored on a Cal Johnson RBI single. Gull Lake was down to it’s final out when Senior Jake Allen was hit by pitch. Down to the last strike, on a 3-2 pitch which allowed Allen to run on the pitch, Gavin Griffin hit a shot to right center field for a double, scoring Allen, tying the score at 2. After intentionally walking Justin Mansager, Grand Ledge brought back in it’s starting pitcher Braedon Stoakes to strike out Pinch hitter Nick Fadden. The score would stay the same until the top of the 12 when, Grand Ledge’s Braedon Stoakes walked and was moved over by a Sac bunt by Kaleb Burke. Stoakes would come around to score on a Aaron West single. That would prove to be the winning run. Gull Lake would load the bases with 1 out but was unable to pull it out. Grand Ledge again brought in Braedon Stoakes who helped Grand Ledge finish the game. Aaron West had 4 hits, in the win for Grand Ledge. Justin Mansager and Gavin Griffin had Gull Lake’s lone hits.
Grand Ledge moves on to face Portage Northern in the Regional Final which was moved to Monday due to weather. Gull Lake finishes the season 30-10.
