Game 1: After giving up 1 run on a bases loaded walk by Broghan Heckert that scored Adam Stagner who singled for BCC’s first hit, Gull Lake put up 7 runs while bringing 12 batters to the plate. Justin Mansager kicked off the inning with a single, then stole 2nd. Luke Scoles singled moving Mansager to 3rd. Scoles then stole 2nd putting runners at 2nd and 3rd. A Dylan Stanton Sac Fly plated Mansager to even the score at 1. Scoles reached 3rd on an error by the pitcher while he was attempting a pickoff to 2nd. Cade Stanton took a 3-2 pitch deep for his 3rd dinger of the season giving Gull Lake a 3-1 lead. Gavin Griffin reached on an error, Jack Blesch singled, Hunter Hazel walked to load the bases. After a bases loaded walk to Brandon Ruge brining in Griffin, Justin Mansager singled scoring Blesch. With the bases still loaded Luke Scoles hit a ground rule double driving Hazel and Ruge giving Gull Lake a 6 run lead after 1 inning. That was all the run support Gull Lake’s Avery Eastman needed. Eastman allowed 1 more run, his final line was 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 9 Bearcats. BCC’s Broghan Heckert was handed the loss. Gull Lake was able to pick up 4 more in the 3rd and 3 more in the 4th. Gull Lake’s Luke Scoles, and Justin Mansager both had 3 hits in the win. Cade Stanton had two hits while driving in 4 runs. Avery Eastman, Jack Blesch, and Hunter Hazel all collected hits for Gull Lake. For Battle Creek Central Adam Stagner had 2 hits in the loss. Eric Hopkins and Erick Adon had a hit a piece.
Game 2 Gull Lake scored 17 runs on 15 hits in Game 2. Gull Lake got on the board early in the 1st when leadoff hitter Tony Schnotala doubled, a Jacob Gleason walk, followed by a Dylan Stanton single to load the bases. A Cade Stanton Sac Fly scored Schnotala and Gleason came around on the throw in making it 2-0. Nick Fadden drew a walk then a Jack Blesch double drove in Dylan Stanton. Gull Lake then got two back to back RBI singles by Jacob Allen and Dawson Clancy giving them a 5-0 lead. After a Hunter Hazel walk Jacob Gleason singled driving in Allen and Blesch. Dylan Stanton followed Gleason’s single with an RBI single of his own, after 1 Gull Lake 8, BCC 0. Gull Lake had another big inning in the 2nd when all of 9 starters reached base and scored. Hunter Hazel had a big 2 run triple, Jack Blesch had a 2 run single and Jacob Gleason, Luke Mastrometteo, Jacob Allen, and Dawson Clancy all had RBI singles. At the end of 2 Gull Lake 17, Battle Creek 0. Luke Mastromatto pitched a 1 hit shutout striking out 5 for the win for Gull Lake. BCC’s Thomas Williams got the loss. Adam Stagner got BCC’s lone hit in the loss. The win moves Gull Lake 20-6 and 5-0 in the conference.
