Gull Lake’s Varsity Baseball opened its season with a Double Header Sweep of Thornapple Kellogg, 10-0, 3-0, Monday night in Richland.

Game 1 Gull Lake scored 10 runs on 11 hits while committing no errors. On the mound, Sophomore Jack Blesch, and Junior Avery Eastman held Thornapple Kellogg to only one hit. Blesch retired 9 of the 11 batters he faced while picking up his first win on the mound. Eastman came in and struck out 7 batters in the 2 innings he pitched.

Offensively Gull Lake was lead by Sophomore Dylan Stanton who had 3 hits with 2 RBI’s, Kole Warren with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Senior Jacob Gleason also added 2 hits and 2 RBI’s in the win

Game 2 Gull Lake scored 3 runs on 8 hits and committed 1 error. Junior Brandon Ruge got the win throwing 3 shutout innings while allowing 1 hit. Sophomore Luke Scoles came in to shut the door striking out 6 of the 7 batters he faced to pick up his first save. Junior Justin Mansager went 2 for 3 with a single and a double and 2 RBI’s. Senior Olivet College commit Jacob Allen also added 2 hits for Gull Lake.  Jacob Gleason, Dylan Stanton, Kole Warren, and Jack Blesch also added hits in the win for Gull Lake.
