Gull Lake earns sweep over Conference foe Kalamazoo Loy Norrix

Gull Lake wins 11-1, and 12-1 to earn sweep.

Game 1 Gull Lake 11, Loy Norrix 1 in 6 innings.

The cold weather did not stop Gull Lake’s bats from heating up in game one versus Loy Norrix. Gull Lake scored 11 runs on 13 hits, which was plenty enough run support for starting pitcher Luke Scoles. Scoles threw a complete game allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 5.

Offensively Gull Lake was lead by Junior Jacob Louden, who collected 3 hits and driving in 4 runs. Justin Mansager added 3 hits of his own. Hunter Hazel and Dylan Stanton both had 2 hits in the win.

Loy Norrix lone run came in the bottom of the 1st after a Baker Conely RBI single plating Yohaness Ademodi.

The win puts Luke Scoles at 3-0 for the season. Jacob Vanhorne was handed the loss for Loy Norrix.


Game 2 - Gull Lake 12, Loy Norrix 1

It didn’t take long for Gull Lake to take the lead in Game 2. They jumped on the board in the Top of the 2nd on a Nick Fadden RBI single, and Justin Mansager SAC Fly,

Loy Norrix cut into the lead in their half of the inning when D Worthy, who had Loy Norrix only hit scored when Baker Conely reached on base due to the error.

Gull Lake would go on to score 4 in the 4th, 2 more in the 4th, 2 in the 6th, and 4 more in the seventh.

Gull Lake’s Jack Blesch wasn’t affected by the cold weather either, allowing 1 run (0 ER), on 1 hit striking out 11 Knights in the process.

Gull Lake’s Jacob Louden picked up 2 more hits in the victory. Nick Fadden, Dylan Stanton, Korbin Griffin, Hunter Hazel and Dean Sommer, all each had a hit in the victory.

Loy Norrix  heads to Lakewood on Saturday, while Gull Lake will host Mattawan this Thursday.
