Game 1: Saw two sophomores battle it out on the mound. Gull Lake’s Luke Scoles outdueled GRCC’s Myles Beale to earn the victory. Scoles allowed 2 runs on 1 hit striking out 6. Scoles' counterpart Myles Beale allowed 4 runs on 7 hits fanning 5 while getting tagged with the loss. Sophomore Jack Blesch came in and pitched the 6th and the 7th inning for Gull Lake to pick up the save. Blesch’s final line 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 3. GRCC opened up the scoring in the top of the 3rd when Jack Tietema scored on a Luke Passinault ground out to shortstop Dylan Stanton. Gull Lake evened the score in their half of the 3rd. Justin Mansager led off the inning with a walk then promptly stole 2nd base. Jacob Gleason then singled driving in Mansager. Gull Lake would add 2 more in the 4th when Gavin Griffin scored on an errant throw by GRCC’s 2nd baseman. Gull Lake then scored again on a Dylan Stanton RBI double. GRCC cut into the lead in the 5th on a RBI single by Jack Tietema scoring Nathan Stickler. Gull Lake added an insurance run in the 6th giving Gull Lake a 4-2 win. Jacob Gleason had a big day going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Dylan Stanton added 2 hits in the win. Cade Stanton, Kole Warren, and Gavin Griffin all had hits for Gull Lake.  Luke Passinault and Jack Tietema each had hits in the loss for GRCC.

Game 2 Gull Lake shut out GRCC 7-0 behind 6 strong innings by starting pitcher Brandon Ruge. Along with Ruge, Gavin Griffin helped Gull Lake keep GRCC off the board. Ruge allowed 0 runs on 3 hits striking out 4. Ruge got a little help from the defense as well, Gull Lake turned 4 double plays in the win. GRCC’s Garrett Gibson got the loss on the mound. Gull Lake opened up the game in the bottom of the 1st scoring 3. Lead off hitter Justin Mansager singled to start out then stole 2nd base. Mansager would later score on a wild pitch. Jacob Gleason walked and Cade Stanton reached base on a Hit by pitch. Gleason Scored on a Kole Warren single, and Stanton came around to score on a Gavin Griffin Sacrifice Fly to GRCC’s center fielder Myles Beale. Gull Lake picked up 3 more in the 4th. Justin Mansager had an RBI single and Dylan Stanton drove in 2 on a single as well. Gull Lake’s final run came in the 5th after back to back doubles by Gavin Griffin and Nick Fadden. Fadden picked up 2 hits along with Justin Mansager in the win. Gavin Griffin, Kole Warren, and Dylan Stanton all picked up a hit. Nathan Trudeau, Jack Nawrocki, and Kyle Tepper collected hits for the visiting GRCC.

Grand Rapids will travel to Allendale High School on Tuesday, and Gull Lake will host Battle Creek Central.
