In the past the winner of this game essentially locked up the Wolverine Conference. Now, even though it is just a game both sides enjoy the win. This year the honors go to Vicksburg after they beat Gull Lake 11-1 in 5 innings on Monday. The Bulldogs scored the 11 runs on 9 hits while taking advantage of 5 Gull Lake errors. Vicksburg’s 1st baseman Ryan Verner had the big bat today, his two run shot off of Gull Lake’s starter Brandon Ruge helped kick start the scoring for the Bulldogs. Vicksburg picked up 2 more runs in the 3rd when Caleb Conklin singled and scored Mike Tultz and Trevor Pryson. Vicksburg padded the lead with 4 more in the 4th, and got the winning 2 runs in the 5th. Garrett Ketelaar, Trevor Pryson and Caleb Conklin both collected 2 hits in the win. Jacob Conklin got the win on the mound for the Bulldogs going 5 strong innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits fanning 4. Brandon Ruge was handed the loss for Gull Lake. Gull Lake’s lone run came in the top of the 2nd when Gavin Griffin singled and later scored when Nick Fadden reached 1st on a dropped 3rd strike. Justin Mansager had a big day at the plate with a single and a double in the loss.

Vicksburg travels to Portage Central Tuesday, while Gull Lake hosts Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in SMAC East Action.
