GLMS Football Families,

We are gearing up for the 2023 football season. We are excited to offer both 8th and 7th-grade teams this year. 

This is the critical information:

When: 1st practice is August 21st. Whistle blows at 3:00 pm. Be there at 2:45 pm.

Where: Meet behind the middle school near the entrance to the gym.

What to wear: Shorts, t-shirt, cleats. Bring your school-issued helmet if you have received it. If not, it will be issued to you on day 1 as will a mouthguard. No shoulder pads or pants for the first 2 days. 

What to get done: Create your account on BigTeams. Load an image of your physical and complete your consent forms. You cannot practice until your physical is submitted and approved. Any fees for football can be paid on efunds.

Other important information: 

• The school will do everything in its power to provide facilities and transportation. 

There is currently construction taking place to the locker room facilities. Coaches will keep a fluid observance of accommodations for middle school football players. Our intent is to keep gear on school property unless it needs to be washed. 

Transportation is a relatively fluid situation as well. The staffing of our transportation department will dictate our situation. More to be communicated on this as the season progresses. 

• To start the season, we will practice Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm until 5:15 pm. The holiday weekend of Labor Day will offer Friday through Monday off for student-athletes and their families. 

• Schedules are posted to the GL Athletics website. Our parent meeting will be on August 30th at 5:45 in the GLMS Cafeteria. Our first scrimmage is on September 6th.
