GAME SUMMARYGull Lake wins Game 1 of the Doubleheader and rallies late to tie Game 2 before it was called for darkness. Game 1 Gull Lake 14, Lakeview 4 in 5 innings. Gull Lake’s Kole Warren spoke softly and carried his big stick driving in 7 runs in the 14 to 4 SMAC division win. Kole went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 SAC Flies. Dylan Stanton added 3 hits of his own. Justin Mansager collected 2 hits of his own in the win. Lakeview jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the Top of the 1st after they walked the bases loaded with 1 out. A Jack Goodman double abruptly unloaded them. Gull Lake’s Starting Pitcher Luke Scoles would settle in striking out 2 stranding Goodman on 3rd. Gull Lake would get one back in their half of the inning on a Kole Warren SAC Fly scoring Jacob Louden who reached base on a fielder’s choice. Gull Lake would score 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd sending 9 guys to the plate. Dawson Clancy had a 2 RBI single, along with a Kole Warren 2 RBI single. Dylan Stanton chipped in with an RBI Double, At the end of 3 Gull Lake 6, Lakeview 3. Gull Lake added 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th. Kole Warren came up big again with a 2 RBI Single scoring Jacob Louden, and Dylan Stanton. At the end of 4 Gull Lake 9, Lakeview 3. Lakeview would get one back in the top of the 5th when Tyler Brown singled to drive in Jackson Kitchen who reached on a bunt single. Gull Lake would put up 5 more in the bottom of the 5th, giving them the 10 run mercy rule. Brandon Ruge started the inning off with a single. Hunter Hazel reached base on a bunt single. Justin Mansager then doubled scoring Ruge. Jacob Louden was hit by a pitch and Dylan Stanton singled driving in Hazel. Stanton would advance to 2nd on the throw. Fittingly. Kole Warren drove in the last 2 runs they needed for the mercy. Warren hit a deep SAC Fly to right field. The shot was so deep it allowed Dylan Stanton to score all the way from 2nd. Luke Scoles got the win for Gull Lake, going all 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, striking out 6. Lakeview’s Jackson Kitchen suffered the loss. Game 2 Gull Lake 3, Lakeview 3 Gull Lake rallied late to tie the game up in the 7th sending the game into extra innings. Before they started the top of the 8th, the game was called due to darkness. Lakeview again would jump out to a lead in their first at-bats. They scored a quick 2 runs on singles by Justin Ratliff, and a single with an error by Kosta Sevastopoulos drove on Ratliff. Sevastopoulos would score on a RBI Jack Goodman single. Lakeview would add one more in the Top of the 4th when Blake Laws hit a SAC Fly to score Jack Goodman who led off the inning with a double. Gull Lake would get 2 back in the bottom of the 5th. Hunter Hazel kicked off the inning with a double. Justin Mansager would single and Louden drove in Mansager, and Hazel Scored on an error. At the end of 5, Lakeview 3, Gull Lake 2. Gull Lake would tie it in their last at bats. Kole Warren came up big driving in Dylan Stanton with an RBI single. Jack Blesch has a solid day on the mound for Gull Lake striking out 9 Lakeview Batters, while scattering 5 hits. The game was called in the Top of the 8th with the score tied 3-3. Play will be resumed if necessary.
