GAME SUMMARYGull Lake wins Game 1 5-0, and Game 2 11-1 while honoring the Senior Class of 2019. Game 1 Gull Lake 5, Catholic Central 0. Gull Lake scored 5 runs on 9 hits while taking advantage of 1 Catholic Central error. Gull Lake got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Senior Justin Mansager led off the inning with a single. Mansager would then steal 2nd and 3rd. After a Dylan Stanton walk, Mansager would score on a double steal, moving Stanton to 2nd. Stanton came around to score Gull Lake’s 2nd run when Senior Dawson Clancy hit a 2 out single to right field. At the end of 3 Gull Lake 2, Catholic Central 0. Gull Lake would add 2 more in the bottom of the 5th. Justin Mansager started off the inning with a double, he would score on a Dylan Stanton double. Stanton was then picked off on a close play at 2nd. Senior Kole Warren reached base on a hit-by-pitch. Dawson Clancy would then double, and Carson Senske walked to load the bases. Senior DH Nick Fadden then singled to left to score Warren giving Gull Lake a 4 to 0 lead. Gull Lake picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when Senior Hunter Hazel would score on a Braden Stanton RBI single. Hazel led the inning off with a double to deep left center. He moved to 3rd on a Justin Mansager SAC Bunt. At the end of 6 Gull Lake 5, Catholic Central 0. Seniors Brandon Ruge, Avery Eastman, and Junior Jack Blesch combined for a 4 hit shutout. Eastman was credited with the win. Ben Joppich was handed the loss for Catholic Central. Game 2 Gull Lake 11, Catholic Central 1 in 5 innings. Gull Lake used a big 7 run inning to win Game 2 in 5 Innings. Gull Lake scored 2 early runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, They would load the bases with 1 out on a Jacob Louden double, a Dylan Stanton walk, and a Luke Scoles hit-by-pitch. Dawson Clancy would then single driving in Louden and Stanton giving Gull Lake the 2-0 lead. Gull Lake would pick up 2 more in the bottom of the 2nd inning on a long ball by Justin Mansager. John Stage would walk prior to Mansager’s blast to left. At the end of 2, Gull Lake 4, Catholic Central 0. Catholic Central would cut into the lead in the top of the 3rd on a Kyle Tepper RBI Single, scoring Guding who doubled down the left field line. Gull Lake would send 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 7 runs to widen the lead. Dylan Stanton led off the inning with a single. He stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a Nick Fadden groundout. Dawson Clancy would reach on a hit-by-pitch. Stanton would score on a Jack Blesch single. Braden Stanton would follow that up with his own RBI single up the middle, scoring Courtesy Runner Korbin Griffin. John Stage would walk to load the bases. Justin Mansager would follow that up with a walk of his own netting him an RBI, his 3rd of the game. Jacob Louden singled in Stanton and Stage then would advance to 2nd on the throw. Dylan Stanton, who led the inning off, reached base again due to an error, that would score Mansager. Nick Fadden would drive in the final run of the inning with a single up the middle. At the end of the 3, Gull Lake 11, Catholic Central 1. Senior Luke Mastromatteo picked up the win for Gull Lake going 3 strong innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 4. Catholic Central’s Jack Nawrocki suffered the loss.
